As 64North’s Studio Director & Director for Landscape Design, Ariana Tanabe directs project management and finance for the practice as a whole. She also leads 64North’s landscape design team, having led the design of landscapes for multifamily, mixed-use, restaurant, retail, civic, arts, and luxury single family projects.

Previous to joining 64North, Ariana led the team at Pistils where her botany and horticultural knowledge, including the design and fabrication of indoor gardens, living walls, and kokedama for interiors, combined with her management expertise made it possible for the growing Portland studio to flourish. She also previously worked at Folia Collective. Her horticultural designs have been published widely, including being featured in Sunset magazine, Better Homes & Gardens, The Spruce and New York magazine.

As Studio Director, Ariana draws on a decade of experience successfully managing teams to ensure that 64North’s projects are delivered with an exacting level of attention to detail, on time, and on budget. Her finance, operations, and management expertise also supports 64North’s construction management practice, ensuring projects are successfully designed, bid, and executed optimally in relationship to cost and schedule from start to finish.

Born in Los Angeles, Ariana received her degree from the University of California, Santa Cruz in Environmental Studies. Outside of 64North, she enjoys designing and fabricating jewelry and tending to her personal plant collection.
