Rising high over Los Angeles, the Arete, a new 8-story multifamily complex, is a new icon for the rapid transformation of the city’s central core. The building’s profile is strikingly thin, creating a slender figure on the skyline and interior units where exterior balconies and floor to ceiling windows are never far away. The building’s façade creates an active, mutable composition of light and shadow as the sun crosses over its faceted form, figured by larger two- and three-story openings with broad balconies, especially visible as day turns to night. Public spaces within the project include an expansive rooftop amenity deck with canopies sheltering spaces for gathering and relaxation intermixed with planting and shade trees, all with views stretching to the horizon in all four directions.
