Its folded concrete form spanning more than 400 feet over the waterway beneath with a depth at mid-span of just five feet, the Zhe Zhi Bridge, for which Wil Carson was the Project Designer at Michael Maltzan Architecture, is a major vehicular connector within a major new 565-acre development in Chengdu, the cultural heart of China’s Sichuan Province. The project, developed with structural engineers CABR, also integrates dedicated pedestrian and bicycle pathways into its folded form, linking and separating these various strands of connectivity into the landscape of the surrounding development.
