It’s curved surface descending in a gentle arc from the ceiling overhead, Dark Side of the Moon, for which Wil Carson was the Project Designer at Michael Maltzan Architecture, is a site-specific gallery installation which creates a new dialogue between the space above and below this figured form, enlivened by a media installation and the interaction of gallery visitors. The project is part of an ongoing investigation into the “fifth facade” of the soffit or ceiling and how it can contribute in a more impactful manner to the overall experience of architecture, both inside and out.
