With dappled light filtering through the trees overhead, Ammo at the Hammer is a new café space which connects inside and outside in a tranquil new environment in the midst of the activity of the surrounding museum and city.

The cafe, for which Wil Carson was the Senior Designer and Hiroshi Tokumaru the Senior Technical Coordinator at MMA, is part of the larger transformation of the Hammer Museum and the Museum’s relationship to the adjacent urban fabric of Westwood and UCLA. Large operable glazed doors form the edge between café and courtyard, allowing the two to blend one into the other, lighting overhead echoing the Billy Wilder Theater opposite.
